Kendin Bak: an AI car help app, built by us, in real use today

How we ship our own products with the same 360 degree process we use for clients.

Challenge: Build a mobile app that uses AI to help non-technical drivers understand what is wrong with their car, in two languages, safely.

Project Overview

Kendin Bak ("check it yourself" in Turkish) is one of our own products. It is also a public demonstration of the work we do for clients. The app lets a driver describe a noise, a warning light, or a problem they are seeing and returns a likely cause and the next step. It is live at https://kendinbak.ibgroup.dev and is used today by Turkish drivers.

The Problem

Most drivers do not know what is wrong with their car when something feels off. They cannot describe the issue to a mechanic in technical terms, and they do not know if the problem is urgent. The cost is either an unnecessary garage visit or a problem that gets worse before they act on it.

Our Solution

A conversational mobile app that takes everyday descriptions of symptoms and returns the most likely cause plus what to do next, in plain language. AI does the matching. We did the engineering.

What we wanted to prove with our own product

AI that does not hallucinate when it matters

A car symptom mistaken for the wrong cause is at best annoying and at worst dangerous. The system prompt and response shaping had to keep the AI inside the lane of known automotive patterns and tell the user to see a mechanic when confidence is low.

Bilingual from day one

Turkish drivers describe symptoms in Turkish. We refused to build an English-first app with a translation layer bolted on. Turkish and English are first-class on the same input pipeline.

Safety in the UX itself

An app used by drivers should never push them to use it while driving. The whole interaction is voice-friendly and never assumes attention is fully available.

Our solution

Production-grade AI with a small, focused team

We built Kendin Bak with React Native, TypeScript, and the Claude API. The system prompt is tight, the AI is asked to surface confidence, and low-confidence answers always point the user to a real mechanic. The UI is deliberately calm and minimal.

We treated Kendin Bak as a client project for ourselves, including the same 360 degree review we sell: security, function, and legal data handling all passed before launch.

If we will not ship our own product without these checks, we will not let our clients either.

What the app does

Practical features for everyday drivers

Conversational symptom intake

The driver describes the problem in their own words: a sound, a smell, a warning light, a behavior.

Benefit: No need to learn car vocabulary to ask for help.

AI-assisted probable cause

The model returns the most likely cause and a confidence indicator. Low confidence answers always include 'see a mechanic'.

Benefit: Useful answers without the false certainty that gets drivers in trouble.

Bilingual: Turkish and English

Symptoms can be described in either language. The model is asked to respond in the language of the question.

Benefit: Natural for Turkish drivers, accessible to international users.

Privacy by default

No personal information is required to use the app. We do not collect what we do not need.

Benefit: Trust is the product.
